Miss Rica Bolipata Santos is the editor of my book Mom’s A Stewardess. Prior to working with her on the book, I did not know her personally and I just took a chance to e-mail her to ask if she did edit books. Prior to that, I was particularly touched by an essay that she wrote about “being rich” which appeared in the Philippine Star, so much so that even if I didn’t know her, I sent her e-mail just to let her know that her essay spoke to me.

Finding An Artist for Your Book

When you come out with or publish your book, chances are you will need to scout for an artist who can give your book cover or pages of your book the look and feel that you want. In the case of the Mom’s A Stewardess book, I knew I wanted the drawings to be colorful to catch the attention of prospective readers and also to give the book a “light look.”

The Gift of Abundance by Pido Aguilar, Jr.

I was at a Christmas reunion recently and during the gathering, talk turned to how things will be for business in 2009. Everyone thought that things will be quite dark and bleak and that so far, we just haven’t felt it since for Filipinos, “tuloy pa din ang Pasko!” (roughly, that means that Christmas is still a time for making merry even amidst difficult times). Different individuals were awaiting the impact of the global financial crisis by January 2009.

Should You Read Other Books?

When I was discussing months ago with my publisher about our book project, my publisher suggested that I stop reading other books too much. Reading too many similar books, while easier for the writer in terms of possibly generating new or related ideas, might lead to the writer “being influenced” by other writers.
